Well I have been seriously B A D about Carson's blog. We had a baby in December and I was a bit anxious about what Carsons's reaction would be because he is a very high energy boy. Our Tucker has had serious post partum depression that started with being scared of the baby but Carson is more curious than anything. In the beginning we had to teach him not to jump up when we were holding the baby, and to keep him from getting in his face to sniff and lick. Now he seems to "get" it. His favorite heating vent sits at the foot of the baby's swing and he still hangs out there with no issues. He particularly enjoys licking the baby's feet. Ive decided that Carson's high energy is just puppiness; much of the things he does are things that Tucker did when he first came to us. We still kennel him when we are gone because he will chew but he does let us know when he needs to go potty, so that is not a concern. We had an issue with Carson jumping our shorter chain link fence that required reinforcing with a higher lattice in one spot; since then we havent had an issues. Carson has learned "sit" and comes quickly when he hears the phrase "do you want a cookie?"...he is VERY treat motivated and also a very smart boy. If we had more time to spend with him I think he could really be quite impressive. His vary favorite game is chase; he could run and run all day. Here is a video of him and Tucker playing on a recent warm weather winter day : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lh3Pr5fFR3w&feature=youtu.be

Welcome to Chicago, Carson!

Hello!! I'm Carson. On May 10, 2011 I moved from the suburbs of Chicago to the big city. I was very nervous when I arrived but once I got to my new house I settled in pretty quick. I really like my two foster brothers and love to play with them, even though neither one of them likes water the way I do AND I am really the most athletic of all of us (don't tell Bobby, he is sensitive). We go with out dog walker every day and sometimes he takes us to play with our friends Mr. Smooches (a bulldog) and Bosco (a lab - my favorite buddy). I love to run around out back and look for animals but I also like knowing that my people are just inside if I want to run for a quick snuggle. I also like to play with balls (I chase but dont fetch - yet) and other toys. I am potty trained but I will steal your socks when you're not looking...all you have to do is tell me "No" and I'll give them up. I am really very smart - I watched my people and learned that the gate on our deck doesn't have a latch so I just open it with my paw like they do. :) I can also easily get over a 3 ft chain link fence so I'd need a forever home with a higher fence (or an invisible fence). More to come on my adventures soon!!
